Row 1,000 meters

Rest as needed.

Row 1,000 meters

These intervals will be done in heats, and here’s the catch: in the second heat, you will be started according to your finishing time in the first heat.

Example:

If Yacine beats me by 30 seconds in the first heat, I get a 30-second head start in the second, and everyone else is slotted accordingly as well. In Heat 2, Yacine would start 30 seconds after me, and whoever hits 1,000 meters first wins. That means great rowers will have to come from behind to win Heat 2.

You can obviously short-circuit this workout by sandbagging it in Heat 1 to obtain a large head start in Heat 2. Don’t do that. You want to win both heats. This workout is specifically designed to give every athlete a chance to win Heat 2 if he or she puts in hard work.

While you’re waiting/recovering between heats, you can work on skills: double-unders, muscle-ups, pistols, handstand push-ups, Turkish get-ups, etc. Pick something that needs work and get better!
