Please select either 204 Valentine’s Day Massacre-MEN or WOMEN under the Events section at the bottom of the page. A credit card is required. We’ve had a number of requests for additional information about the skill/strength levels required for the Valentine’s Day Massacre competition, so please note the following clarifications: 1. This is not an elite-level competition, though top athletes may compete. Athletes who have competed in RX divisions at other competitions will be more than fine. Athletes who can generally RX most workouts at their gym will be fine, and this competition will be well suited to first-time RX competitors as long as they can complete at least a few reps of most Functional Fitness movements (see No. 2). This is a great chance for first-time RX competitors to compete against some more experienced athletes. 2. Athletes should have general competency in Functional Fitness movements, but athletes will not be eliminated if they cannot complete certain movements. Athletes should expect to see movements generally seen in the Functional Fitness Games Open. The competition will be programmed to find the fittest person without using elite-level loads and movements. Should heavier loads and tougher movements show up, they will be placed as they are in Open workouts to allow everyone to compete. 3. This will be a great tune-up for the Open. As always, we prioritize intensity over volume. 4. If you are unsure as to whether you have the skills required to compete, please email Info@Functional Fitness204.com and we can help you out without giving anything away. With a look at your Functional Fitness Games profile or some of your stats, we can easily let you know if you’re suited to this competition. The standards listed in the original post were approximate, not rigid, and we’ve added some clarification. Men Fran: 5:00 – Time is approximate. Athletes should be able to do 95-lb. thrusters and multiple pull-ups. An athlete with a 7-minute Fran would be fine, though he or she should not expect to place first in a thruster/pull-up event. Amanda: 9:00 – Male athletes should be able to snatch 135 lb. for several reps in a workout, and they should be able to do muscle-ups. Someone who has both skills but cannot complete Amanda under 9:00 will be fine but won’t receive a top score in a similar workout. Diane: 8:00 – Male athletes should be able to deadlift 225 lb. for reps in a workout, and they should be able to do kipping handstand push-ups, even in singles. Someone who has both skills but cannot complete Diane under 8:00 will be fine but won’t receive a top score in a similar workout. Snatch 185 lb. – Athletes who can snatch 150 lb. or more will be fine. Clean and jerk: 225 lb. – Athletes who can clean and jerk 185 lb. will be fine. Women Fran: 5:00 – Time is approximate.
