Takasaki Two-on-One Details

[/caption] Update as of  July 3: Manitoba’s hardest-working Toyota dealership will be sponsoring this event for Manitoba’s hardest-working athletes. Thanks to McPhillips Toyota for your support! Date and time: July 13, 1-4 p.m. Register by July 5 at info@Functional Fitness204.com Location: Functional Fitness 204, 483 Berry St. Cost: This event is in support of Tyson’s upcoming trip to the Functional Fitness Games in Carson, Calif. Registration fees are $40 cash per team of two (includes barbecue), or $10 cash per person for just the barbecue. No charge to watch. Donations to the fundraising effort are gratefully accepted. Compete against a Functional Fitness Games athlete: Tyson and some of the other Functional Fitness 204 coaches will do a workout, and teams of two will perform the exact same workout and try to beat Tyson’s time. Workout: Grace plus Helen back to back. To register: Email info@Functional Fitness204.com with the names of your team members and their loads selected from the options below. Each team member must pick a load from the options below, and both members do not have to use the same loads. For instance, one male might use 135 lb. while his partner uses 95 lb. Mixed pairs also allowed. Rules: Teams of two will perform Grace (30 ground-to-overhead lifts for time) and then Helen (3 rounds of a 400-meter run, 21 kettlebell swings and 12 pull-ups). Only one partner can work at a time, and teams can divide up the work any way they want with one exception: both members must do the run portion of Helen together. To be clear: both members do not do Grace and Helen in their entirety; the partners divide up the reps any way they want. [caption id="attachment_3772" align="alignright" width="300" caption="He can run too."][/caption] For example, one member could do Grace and the other could do Helen, while the first partner tags along on the runs. Or they could each do 15 reps of Grace, then do the Helen runs together, then split up the pull-ups and kettlebell swings. Any strategy or division of reps is acceptable, but both partners must run. Teams will have one barbell and one kettlebell unless partners cannot use the same loads. If teams use scaling options (see below) they will have two barbells and two kettlebells but may not work at the same time. Mixed pairs are allowed. If pairs are mixed and do not use the same load, they will use two barbells and kettlebells instead of one (see below for scaling). Teams are encouraged to pair up so that at least one member can perform the required work. However, we will offer ring rows if neither member can perform pull-ups. Loads and scaling (your registration email must contain load selection for each partner): Male option 1: 135 lb./55 lb Male option 2: 115 lb./45 lb. Male option 3: 95 lb./35 lb. Female option 1: 95 lb./35 lb. Female option 2: 75 lb./35 lb. Female option 3: 55 lb./25 lb. [caption id="attachment_3773" align="alignright" width="300" caption="Fuelled and ready for the Two-on-One!"][/caption] Standards: Individual judges will not be assigned to teams, but a floor supervisor will enforce the movement standards. Grace: The barbell starts on the ground and is locked out completely overhead. Clean and jerk, clean and press, and clean and push press are allowed. Snatches are not. Helen: Run 400 meters: partners do not have to run together, but no other work can be performed until the last partner enters the building. Kettlebell swing: The wrists will touch the thighs at the bottom, and the bell will be locked out directly over the base of support. We will use the same standards as the Functional Fitness 204 Classic. Pull-up: The arms must be locked out at the bottom of the rep, and the chin must be over the horizontal plane of the pull-up bar at the top. Any style of pull-up is permitted: kipping, butterfly, strict. Any grip is permitted. Tape, gymnastics wraps and gloves are permitted. To register: Email info@Functional Fitness204.com with the names of your team members and their loads. Each team member must pick a load from the options above. Following the close of registration (date TBA) you will receive a heat time.
