[/caption] Winnipeg-The CrossFit Games competition season is here! Starting March 16, thousands of athletes around the world will be competing in the Reebok CrossFit Games Open. The Open is an Internet competition true to CrossFit’s roots on the web, and the top 60 competitors in each region will move on to another round of competition, where only the top three will advance to the CrossFit Games in Carson, California. The prize money on the line at the Home Depot Center is $250,000 for the top man and top woman. With a video camera and a YouTube account, CrossFitters can compete in the grassroots Open anywhere. The workouts will be posted every Tuesday for six weeks, and athletes will have until Sunday to complete them and upload their results to the CrossFit Games 2011 website. Athletes can also have the workouts judged and scored at registered affiliates, and no video equipment is necessary. CrossFit 204 athletes will be competing in the workouts, but we will not be hosting any events because of space, equipment and schedule limitations. If you’re interested in competing, please contact one of the other local affiliates, or email Mike about filming your workout. We’ll be sure to let you know how our athletes do each week. We have no idea what the workouts will be, but we encourage all CrossFitters to give them a shot in some form. If possible, we’ll be replicating some of the workouts in our classes. The point is just to have some fun while getting fit at the same time, and you might even catch the competition fever that’s caused over 360 athletes to register in Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan and B.C. And if you aren’t ready for competition, check out the Games website and watch some of the videos, including this recap of the 2010 CrossFit Games. We’ll be posting anything we can to our YouTube channel, and you can watch hundreds of videos online. CrossFit is the sport of fitness, and it’s fantastic to watch! And if you’re intrigued by what you see during the CrossFit Open, consider coming out to a CrossFit 204 class. We’ll show you what CrossFit is all about, and we’ll help you use the program to get fit no matter what your current condition is. And if you want to compete one day, we can get you ready for that, too!
It’s a mistake to wait for everything to be “perfect” to begin your fitness & nutrition journey. Life is a laundry list of events, holidays
