High Protein Ice Cream Treats

I have a long standing love affair with ice cream. The real kind. Good old fashioned hard, made from milk, ice cream. It’s the ultimate treat in my opinion. It doesn’t matter what season we’re in, it’s always delicious, and it’s always worth it.

Unfortunately depending on what my goals are with my health and fitness, it doesn’t always fit my macros. That’s always a bummer.

I’ve tried a lot of different dairy free ice cream substitutes. And some of them are divine. I find the more delicious they are (Coconut Bliss ahem), the further away I am from my macros. Might as well just eat the ice cream. I also find I can really tell when I’m eating a calorie friendly version – sorry Halo Top, you’re good, but you’re a distant second from the real thing for me.

These tasty little treats I whipped up were low drag, and while they might not be the real thing, they ranked ahead of some of the other options I’ve tried. If you’re looking for an awesome frozen treat for yourself, or the kids that helps you get the protein in and keep some of that sugar at bay, give these a whirl.


Ice Cream

150 grams of frozen banana

100 grams of avocado

1 cup of cashew milk (Silk, unsweetened vanilla)

2 scoops of peanut butter chocolate protein powder (Beyond Yourself)

Chocolate Glaze

1/2 cup of condensed milk

1 scoop of protein powder

12 grams of PB2 powder

1 tbsp of cocoa powder


In a blender, combine your frozen banana, avocado, cashew milk and two scoops of protein powder together until smooth and creamy. Pour into your molds and freeze over night.

In the morning prepare the chocolate glaze by combining the condensed milk, 1 scoop of protein powder, PB2 powder and cocoa powder all together in a bowl just by stirring. Once it’s smooth and creamy, remove your frozen treats from the molds and dip into your glaze. Lay them all down into a piece of parchment paper and freeze again for another hour. This is where you can add your choice of toppings, before putting them back into the freezer. I used walnuts and coconut flakes, with drops of more glaze. After an hour, they’re ready to serve! Enjoy!


I purchased my molds from the Dollar store. When you remove them from the freezer, run under warm/hot water to slide them out with more ease before dipping in your glaze. Remember to take your batch ingredients and divide them over how many molds you fill. That will give you the correct macros for each treat. Don’t forget to count your toppings!
