Location: 483 Berry St. Skill level: Experienced to advanced (see below for guidance) The 204 Valentine’s Day Massacre will be an individual competition with an RX division only, and we’ll be accepting 16 male athletes and 16 female athletes. If one sex is under-represented when registration opens, those spots will be awarded to the other on a secondary registration date. Due to a small number of spots and a large number of friends, we can’t offer pre-registration without looking impartial, so registration is first come, first served. Prairie did a great job with a novice competition, and CFW has the team competition covered, so we’re offering individuals a final chance to tune up before the Functional Fitness Games Open begins. We’re going to be starting early in the day, but that’s only to space things out and allow for ample rest, recovery and warm-up. The number of events and amount of work will reflect our philosophy that intensity is more important than volume. Related to that, the competition will begin in the week before the 14th, with a single event to be performed beforehand. The event will require minimal equipment and judging, and it may be performed at Functional Fitness 204 by appointment or at any location of your choosing as long as all requirements are met—and the requirements will be minimal. You will be given ample time to complete it, and it will not derail your training. Details to follow. There will be no event briefings. Movement standards will be the same as they are for the Functional Fitness Games, with any variances noted well beforehand. Athletes will be expected to know the standards beforehand. All paperwork—waivers, payments, etc.—will be taken care of ahead of time by email. There will be a role call only on the day of the event. All competitors will perform all events, and there will be no cuts to the field. Some events may be outside. Be prepared. Athlete requirements The standards listed below are approximate but will give potential competitors some guidance. There will be no scaled division, so athletes should be competent with all movements and loads seen in general RX competitions. No one will be eliminated, but it would be less than fun to take a zero in an event due to a lack of competency in standard RX movements. The requisite skill and strength levels will be below those seen at the Functional Fitness Games Regionals, though regional-level athletes are more than welcome to compete. Men Fran: 5:00 Amanda: 9:00 Diane: 8:00 Snatch 185 lb. Clean and jerk: 225 lb. Women Amanda: Must be able to complete the workout as prescribed under 20:00 Fran: 5:00 Diane: Must be able to complete the workout as prescribed under 20:00 Snatch: 115 lb. Clean and jerk: 145 lb.
